Disclaimer - I am not a professional. But what the professionals sent me home with was not working and it was annoying with velcro. I realize that the velcro provided adjustments to manage swelling, but that caused rubbing on the adjacent fingers. Since I do have some experience with thermoplastic materials, I decided to give it a try. The instructions that came with the large sheet were clear and easy to understand. Since I didn't need to work with a large piece, I could easily find a household shallow dish to work with. Having a candy thermometer was handy to know that I was at the correct temperature. The sheet was easy enough to cut with kitchen scissors. I was able to fashion several different splints for my various needs. The material is silky smooth against the skin. The ends can be smoothed with hot water and your fingers or a hot gun. I found a glue gun without a glue stick worked to flatten the overlapping ends and to smooth the rough-cut edges. I am very happy with the product. I like how easy it is to work with. It is very forgiving and can be reworked multiple times as a whole or to fine tune certain areas.
